Woodland Whisps...!

There are new creatures in the wood - Woodland Whisps.
I wanted to make small winged insect-like creatures, mix between moths and faeries. Something handheld in size, where I could experiment with fabric techniques, embroidery,  applique, etc.

The initial sketch came whilst working with the children I nanny for - we were all inventing monsters and creatures when the Whisps made themselves known to me.

I am pleased with my first attempt at bringing them to life, but even more excited by the thought of the journey ahead, of them evolving, helping me develop my skills. That's their purpose, really - to guide us, to aid on the road we are travelling along.

I made them small, so they can be handled easily, and popped into bags or pockets.

Here are a few of them!

There are new Sprytlings up and awake, who I will introduce soon!
Till then, The British Faery.
